The carbon emissions and bills of several public buildings in Ruse are reduced by half this heating season as a result of the partnership between M-Gaz, SOCAR and the municipality of Ruse. This was agreed earlier in October and the first results will be visible in early November.

The first school to replace diesel heating with an environmentally friendly fuel will be the primary school “St. St. Cyril and Methodius” in the village of Nikolovo. In the next few months 10 more schools or kindergartens in the Ruse region will get the same opportunity.

“SOCAR’s strategic goal is to ensure that gas from Azerbaijan reaches end users in industry and the public administration sector,” said Rossen Simidchiev, the Bulgarian representative of the Caucasian state gas operator in Bulgaria. “This is possible in cooperation with M-Gaz and we are happy to launch this project in Ruse,” he added.

“M-Gaz is developing its business by taking care of nature and making the air and environment cleaner,” said Eng. Stoyan Manolov, Managing Director of M-Gaz. “The company was founded in Ruse and that is why we chose to start here. We have received support and understanding from the municipal administration and the Mayor of Ruse, Mr. Pencho Milkov.”

As part of M-Gaz’ corporate social responsibility, the company offered to cover the cost of installing the equipment to replace the diesel fuel in the primary school in Nikolovo with natural gas. The winter heating bill will also be paid by M-Gaz. The expectation is that from mid-November the school will be heated on gas.
