Today’s Forbes Sustainability Forum 2026 served as a key platform for debate on Bulgaria’s energy transition, bringing together leading figures from the sector in search of effective models for decarbonization. The General Manager of M-Gas Ltd. Eng. Stoyan Manolov participated in the leadership discussion during the first panel, “Clean and Sustainable Energy,” where, together with Eng. Alexander Kozhuharov from Citigas Bulgaria and moderator Boyan Rashev, they analyzed the future of the gas market.
The main focus of Mr. Manolov’s remarks was on the strategic importance of natural gas, not merely as a temporary resource, but as a fundamental element for the stability of the national energy sector. According to him, the role of natural gas is critical in the context of the widespread adoption of renewable energy sources, which require reliable and flexible capacity for regulation.
“Natural gas should no longer be viewed solely as a transition fuel. It is the indispensable tool through which we can effectively balance Bulgaria’s energy system as vast amounts of new renewable energy capacity are integrated into the grid. Without its flexibility, it is impossible to simultaneously guarantee energy security and achieve ambitious climate goals,” emphasized Eng. Manolov during the forum.
The discussion also addressed practical market issues—ranging from the potential for developing alternative fuels and investing in clean technologies to the obstacles hindering the optimal use of gas infrastructure. Eng. Manolov argued that for Bulgarian industry to maintain its competitiveness, the energy transition must be technologically sound and economically viable. M-Gas’s participation in this prestigious forum once again confirms the company’s commitment to fostering an expert dialogue that combines economic efficiency with environmental responsibility for the country’s sustainable future.
