The 20th anniversary of M-Gas became the focal point of an in-depth conversation with Gergana Manolova, Director of Strategic Development and Impact, regarding the evolution of the energy sector and the role of business as a driver of social change. In her latest interview, she emphasizes that over two decades, the definition of a “rational choice” has transformed from a purely economic decision into a complex strategy for sustainability, where a company’s success is inextricably linked to the well-being of society.

As a key regional player, M-Gas provides a direct and measurable contribution to the decarbonization of Bulgarian industry. The transition from solid fuels to natural gas—which the company facilitates even for facilities outside the gas distribution network—leads to a significant reduction in carbon emissions and improved air quality. Gergana Manolova explains that the company does not simply deliver energy but offers expertise in process optimization, helping clients become more competitive and meet strict ESG criteria.

A special focus in the interview is placed on the social pillar of management and the large-scale initiative for the free re-equipment of social facilities. In the last two years alone, M-Gas has invested over €85,000 in the gasification of a school in the village of Nikolovo and a kindergarten in Chervena Voda, expanding these projects to spiritual centers and hospitals through an innovative hybrid gasification model. This type of corporate giving was chosen for its sustainable return, as modern gas installations provide health and environmental benefits for decades.

The integration of ESG principles at M-Gas is a daily process, covering everything from transport logistics and route optimization to investments in human potential. Recognition for these efforts came in the form of the “Sustainable Leader” award at the annual ESG AWARDS. Looking toward the next decade, the company’s vision includes a deeper integration of decarbonization technologies and innovations, proving that economic growth and environmental care can exist in perfect harmony.
