At a special ceremony held on February 17 at the Hilton Hotel Sofia, M-Gas was awarded “Sustainable Leader” in the SME category at the annual ESG AWARDS. The prestigious event, organized by ESG&FRIENDS, took place immediately after the fifth edition of the forum of the same name, opened by the President of the Republic of Bulgaria, Mrs. Iliana Yotova.

This year, the ESG AWARDS marked an important milestone – for the first time, awards were presented in the category for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). In a competitive selection process, two small, two medium-sized, and one large company received awards in this category, highlighting the growing importance of sustainable practices in all segments of the economy.

The assessment of M-Gas’ achievements came from an authoritative jury, whose members included Assoc. Prof. Marina Stefanova, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration at Sofia University, Darinka Georgieva, Executive Director of the Bulgarian Network of the UN Global Compact, Ivelina Vasileva, Minister of Environment and Water from 2014 to 2017, and Evgenia Troanska from EFRAG.

The award was presented to the manager of M-Gas, Eng. Stoyan Manolov, by Dr. Boyko Takov, Executive Director of the Executive Agency for the Promotion of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises.

Upon receiving the award, Eng. Manolov said: “Small and medium-sized companies deserve admiration because, with less human capital and resources, they achieve significant results and set even more ambitious goals in the field of sustainable development”.

In addition to the recognition of experts, M-Gas affirmed its position among the general public, ranking second in the public vote. This result is a direct reflection of the trust in the company as a leader in the implementation of best practices for energy efficiency and renewable energy in the country.

During the event, whose special guest was sustainability expert Prof. Dr. Jan Jonker, M-Gas took an active part in the professional discussions. Gergana Manolova moderated the panel “Sustainable Teams: Mental Health as Strategic Capital,” emphasizing care for people as a key element of the company’s strategy.

M-Gas’ success at the forum is proof of the company’s real contribution to the development of a sustainable energy sector in Bulgaria. The high praise from the jury and the public makes this award a benchmark for professionalism and confirms M-Gas as a leader in the modern transformation of business in Bulgaria.
