Natural gas and nuclear energy will be considered suitable technologies for reaching decarbonization and carbon neutrality of the European Union until 2050. This was written in the suggestion of the European Commission with regard to the green taxonomy. In July 2022 the European Parliament supported the Commission by confirming that natural gas is a “green” energy source.

The changes in the taxonomy will enter in effect in 2023 and with them the investment is gas power plants will be considered green investments.  The EU Taxonomy is dedicated to directing private investments towards action, needed for reaching the climate neutrality goals.

With this action, the importance of natural as an energy source that will play an important role in the transition towards “green” energy and carbon neutrality will be stressed.
